Cord and Weight Sash Windows

Our timber cord and weight sash windows can be fitted with energy-efficient glazing units, while the Heritage version can also be supplied with single glazing where required for period-sensitive applications.

This gives greater flexibility for listed buildings, conservation projects and homes where preserving original character is particularly important.
We offer glazing with low-emissivity coatings to improve thermal performance and reduce heat loss, as well as toughened safety glass, laminated security glass and acoustic glass for enhanced comfort and protection. For elevations exposed to strong sunlight, solar control glass can also be specified to help reduce heat gain indoors.

A wide choice of ornamental glass and decorative stained glass is also available, allowing each sash window to be adapted to the style and individuality of the property.

Our traditional cord and weight sash windows are crafted from carefully selected timber sourced from legally and sustainably managed forests.

We work with well-proven timber species including pine, larch, spruce, meranti and Accoya®, chosen for their stability, durability and natural appearance. Each timber type offers its own distinctive qualities, allowing the character of the finished window to be matched to the style and requirements of the project.

Regardless of the timber selected for the frames and sashes, the cill in every sash window is always made from hardwood to provide excellent resistance to moisture, wear and changing weather conditions over time.

Our cord and weight sash windows are fitted with traditional external horns as standard, reinforcing their authentic period appearance.

For projects requiring a different architectural emphasis, internal horns can also be supplied on request. A variety of horn profiles is available, allowing the final design to be matched more closely to the character of the building.

For a cleaner and more restrained look, we also manufacture sash windows without horns, offering a simpler interpretation of this classic window style.

Our cord and weight sash windows are also available in bespoke bay window configurations, made to measure for the precise proportions and requirements of each property.

Every bay window is individually prepared to ensure a seamless fit within the architecture of the building. We manufacture bay posts and timber cills and can supply them as fully pre-assembled units to support efficient installation, accurate alignment and long-term durability.
